French Quarter District ~ Real Estate Market Report: The French Quarter District in Charleston, bounded on the South by Broad Street, to the East by the Cooper River, to the North by Market Street and to the West by Meeting Street. The French Quarter is within the original "walled" city of Charleston. In 1973 preservation began on warehouse buildings in the area, which was originally founded by French merchants, thus the name the French Quarter. The French Quarter provides easy walking to many of Charlestons historical sites as well as excellent restaurants and shops. With close proximity to the Cooper River/Charleston Harbor area, there are many great water views as well. The French Quarter has a combination of older single family homes along with newer condominium options, which are generally located to the east side by the Cooper River.

As there are not a large number of housing units in this area, home and condo sales have a tendency to be small in numbers.
